Mười năm trước, bạn học tụ tập lại với nhau bằng cái email group, mỗi lần có thêm một email của bạn nào là tôi cố gắng hình dung gương mặt ấy trong cái tiềm thức cạn xèo của mình. Tôi đã hình dung Thúy Lan, tóc dài ngang lưng,gương mặt có mụn và nụ cười hơi e lệ . . . (điều này hơi dư thừa thì phải, vì không có bạn gái nào cười ồn ào và dữ tợn cả). Đến khi các bạn gửi hình ảnh cập nhật đời sống thì trông bạn đã khác với hình ảnh mình lưu giữ. Bạn trông đẹp hơn, không thấy mụn, mắt tinh anh, nụ cười tươi tắn và có một tấm lòng vàng vì bạn làm việc thiện rất nhiều. Bạn ít phản hồi thư nhưng nếu có thì nhận xét tinh tế, nhẹ nhàng.
Sáng sớm nay thức dậy, nghĩ đến bạn, mấy câu thơ chợt hiện trong đầu, tôi vói tay lấy mẩu giấy dưới chân đèn và viết vội:
Vẫn biết thời gian rất vô tình,
Đóa hoa ban sáng bỗng chiều phai.
Đêm nghe sao rụng bay đi mãi,
Để lại trong tôi nỗi u hoài.
